Our Projects

Our projects are year-long research endeavors allowing undergraduates to apply synthetic biology principles in either computational or wet-lab settings.

2022-23
Build a Bioreactor

Principles

Bioreactors are used across scientific fields to host a controlled biological environment.

Goals

We are going to build a small-scale, chemostat bioreactor using Arduino to control its sensors. Our goal is to create affordable and effective bioprocessing methods in order to scale up and improve genetically edited cells for industrial use.

Computational Biology for SynBio

We will have a set of independent teams where members analyze various biological data (e.g. scRNA-seq, protein structure) that have relevance to the field of synthetic biology. This analysis can be done using machine learning and data-driven methods. Our goal is to add data science to synthetic biology workflows in order to improve end results.
